4 Month Old Jake

Happy 4 month birthday, Jake! This month you are seeming much more “grown up” in the way you move and take in the world around you.  Your movements seem more purposeful as you grab for toys, put things in your mouth and turn your head to watch people passing by.  You squeal with delight when we tickle you and smile a wide gummy smile when Rachel enters the room.  You are a rolling machine these days, but you seem to only save that feat for when Mommy and Rachel are around.  Every time Daddy comes in to the room you suddenly stop and refuse to roll any more! Already you are proving to be a very unique mixture of someone who is determined yet also relaxed.

You love a good chew toy, and are often found chewing on anything you can get your hands on (your fingers are your all time favorite, though.)  Your eyes are still very blue and everyone is wondering if they will change color or stay the same.  Either way, you are (and will be) perfect in my eyes.  You are a perfect combination of your Daddy’s laid back attitude and my inquisitive nature.  You love to be around people and are quite content to be held or snuggled as long as the person holding you will allow. (Side note-You see how you have your feet pressed together in this picture? I love when you do that.  And you do it quite often. When you are older and I think back to when you are a baby, I like to think that I will picture you like this–chewing on a chew toy, your bright blue eyes looking up at me with your tiny little toes pressed together and your knees practically to your chest.  *sigh* Do me a favor–don’t grow up too fast, little guy!)

You are happy. You are giggly. You are smiley. Simply put, little one,  you are a dream.  And we love you more than you’ll ever know.

Love always,
