6 Month Old Jake

Sweet Jake,

You’re my happy little guy, always content to do whatever it is we have on our agenda for the day.  A real “go with the flow” kind of baby, a perfect fit to our little family of four.  This month you seem to act more like a “baby baby” and less like a newborn than ever before.  As usual, I am amazed at how fast this last month has flown by and, in reality, the last six all together.  It seems like just yesterday we were bringing you home to meet your sister and puppy, but on the same hand it seems like life without you was so long ago…it’s difficult to really even picture those times.  It’s like you were always here with us– always smiling, always laughing, always just being you. We love you so much, little guy!

It has been fun to watch you grow even more into yourself in the last month. Your little personality is so pleasant and sweet, it’s hard not to think of you and smile.

You are learning to use a sippy cup–and we are learning to dodge it quickly when you fling it across the room! You are a rolling machine these days–always moving from your belly to your back or your back to your belly.  Whichever way gives you the best view, that’s the one you choose.  Who can blame you?

You can play in your jumper just long enough for Mommy to cook dinner or clean up afterwards (thankfully!). Sitting up is your newest endeavor and I can tell you can’t wait until you are strong enough that you can do it for longer periods of time.    You love to be snuggled, to be sung to and when we kiss you under your chin you burst into fits of giggles.  Everything, and I mean everything, goes in your mouth these days! No teether is left untouched with you around!

You give hugs and kisses at a moment’s notice.  If you want a kiss, you have no problem grabbing that person by their hair and pulling them in close to you so you can plant a big wet slobbery kiss all over them! Your sister is not left out of your affections…in fact, I think you enjoy being around her and loving on her the most!

Those sweet baby blue’s. How can anyone resist?

I’m convinced one day you’ll sleep again…but until that day comes, I’ll soak up every minute with you because I know in the grand scheme of life our late night and early morning snuggles will be gone too soon.  And sometimes, little buddy, I secretly look forward to the alone time with you in the middle of the night when all the world is quiet and it’s just the two of us.

You are the sweetest baby boy I’ve ever laid eyes on.  I love you to the moon and back.
